Oligopole et intégration verticale : la réorganisation de l’industrie de la pulpe de bois et du papier, 1950-1970
La transformation de l’industrie de la pulpe de bois et du papier en Europe Occidentale à de la fin des années 1950 et largement liée à l’influence exercée par le modèle américain de l’entreprise multinationale verticalement intégrée. Corrélatif à l’émergence d’une consommation de masse, l’adoption de méthodes et de formes d’organisation américaines a contribué à accélérer le passage de cette industrie à une structure oligopolistique. Il en a résulté, comme dans le cas de la Norvège, et faute d’adaptation au nouveau modèle, un déclin de l’industrie nationale.
The transformation of the pulp and paper industry in Western Europe from the end of the 1950s is largely linked to the influence of the American model of the vertically integrated multinational corporation. Coincidental with the emergence of mass consumption, the adoption of American organisational methods and forms fostered the decline of the industry’s oligopolistic structure. As exemplified by the case of Norway, resistance to the new model led to a decline of the local pulp and paper industry.
